Brief Description of Program/Service

Services are planned and organized at the McCrary Center 111 North York Street, Wheeling, WV  26003, but are provided throughout northern panhandle counties, including Brooke, Hancock, Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel and Tyler.

Safety Services, Supervised Visitation, life skills instruction and individualized parenting are community based services provided to at-risk families. Staff address issues such as abuse/neglect, substance abuse, domestic violence, youth behavior problems and/or mental health issues.

Description of Services

  • Safety Services – In-home family preservation/reunification services designed to reduce and/or eliminate conditions/behaviors leading to out-of-home placement.
  • Supervised Visitation – Supervision of visit between child(ren) and parent to ensure general safety and appropriate interaction.
  • Individualized Parenting – Face-to face instruction to improve parental competence.
  • Life Skill Instruction – Service intended to assist in developing basic home management skills.
  • Employment Skill Services – Services designed to assist youth and young adults in gaining and maintaining employment.

Staff

Licensed Social Workers and other Bachelor’s Level Staff, as well as para-professionals supervised by a Master’s Level Social Worker.

All staff have more than seven years experience and training addressing the issues of the most at-risk families (abuse/neglect, substance abuse, mental health issues, poverty and domestic violence).
