Helinski Shelter

Helinski Shelter, located adjacent to Grandview Park in Moundsville, WV, is a 16-bed licensed co-ed emergency shelter licensed for children ages 8-17. The shelter provides room and board, supervision and emergency stabilization services to children in need. Helinski also provides services to runaway and homeless youth and is a designated Safe Place.

Description of Treatment

Case Management Services – Trained advocate treatment plan development and oversight.

Professional services – Counseling, assessment and treatment planning links to psychologists, physicians and special needs treatment resources.

24/7 supportive counseling – trained staff available for emotional support and direction.
Supportive groups – trained staff provide assistance in anger management, decision making and positive coping skills.

Medical services – contracted primary physician treat health care needs, RB services monitor day-to-day health care needs. Linkage to community specialists when needed.

Staff

Staff are trained in Medication Administration (AMAP), also trained in the delivery of supportive counseling (individual and group).  Staff received annual training in CPI, CPR, First Aid and Food Safety.  Staff also received training in the area of child development and behaviors associated with residential care.  All services are provided under the direction of a licensed physician, licensed psychologist and experienced qualified staff.
