Secure Detention
Provides temporary secure care of juveniles who are alleged to have committed violations of the law and who meet the Detention Standards, assures that juveniles appear at court hearings and do not commit additional offenses prior to court hearings, and minimizes the inherent risks in situations when a juvenile poses a substantial danger to himself or to the community.  Secure detention may also be used for juveniles who have been adjudicated but are awaiting disposition and placement.

Services include the provision for basic needs (food, clothing, shelter, and medical care); prevention of violation of the youth's legal rights, while detained; provision for the physical, emotional, religious, educational, and social needs of each youth; and the provision of a safe environment.
