Choosing YSS

Youth Services System is a private, non-profit, tax-exempt corporation operating under West Virginia and federal law. We have an all-volunteer board of directors as our policy and planning decision makers. YSS has a chief executive officer and program managers for our significant program activities. Managers are responsible for developing and managing positive program outcomes.

Our community-based and school-based services build skills and create options to prevent or resolve crisis. Licensed social workers offer in-home services to coach parental coping skills. Our staff and facilities support parents of youth in out of home care to visit with their children in order to promote and prepare for reunification. Mentors work with young people to create positive guiding relationships. In schools, like Wheeling Park High School and John Marshall High School, counselors use proven techniques to promote a message of prevention around substance abuse and youth-related issues. These counselors make themselves available for individual sessions with students. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) works with adolescents with abuse and addiction problems.
