What Are YSS Recovery Homes?

For many people, the next step after treatment is learning how to maintain recovery while returning to work, school and everyday life. YSS Recovery Homes provide that next step.

Our Recovery Homes offer a safe, secure and supportive place for men and women age 18 and older who are actively working toward recovery and independence.

YSS’s Recovery Homes are not inpatient treatment facilities; they are a step down from treatment facilities. YSS’s Recovery Homes provide a residential bridge between treatment and independent living, giving people in recovery the structure and support to put what they learned in treatment into practice.

A Place to Keep Moving Forward

Recovery Home Program and Services

YSS operates three gender-specific Recovery Homes: Lazarus House, Mark’s House and Mary and Martha House.

Residents typically stay for six months and live alongside others in recovery while they:

Build on skills developed in treatment
Attend recovery support meetings, such as AA or NA
Continue treatment or counseling
Return to school or pursue employment
Develop healthy routines, responsibilities and support systems
Prepare for independent living

Residents are expected to follow house guidelines, contribute to household responsibilities and maintain abstinence from illicit drug use.

YSS supports medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for residents who choose this treatment path under the supervision of a medical provider. Ongoing substance use treatment and behavioral health services are provided.

Take the Next Step

Applications are accepted from correctional facilities, hospitals, treatment centers and individuals seeking placement directly. Each applicant completes a screening process to determine whether the program is an appropriate fit.

A Legacy Living On

YSS Recovery Homes give residents a safe and supportive environment to continue building a life in recovery while taking meaningful steps toward independence.

YSS began operating Lazarus House and Mary and Martha House in 2017. In 2020, YSS expanded its program when Shelley and the late Bill Rohrig established a recovery home in memory of their son, Mark.

Our program is funded by the Bureau of Behavioral Health, grants and through the generosity of local trusts, foundations, donors and community partners. YSS works to provide as many of the comforts of home as possible as residents work toward independence.
